  • Tour around Kyiv
  • Dinner at McDonalds
  • Educational program in the planetarium

At the end of 2008 our theatre showed the play “Sea Gang” in children’s home “Liubystok”. Unfortunately, that time we didn’t have a chance to get to know the principals and to speak with the children. A lot has changed since then: some children were adopted, some came back to their parents; however, there were quite a few of new-comers. I should say that I was glad with what I saw in the children’s home: the principal, having started the building of the home six years ago, with all his heart takes care of the kids and does his best to make them feel at home! Several times a week a few high school students come there to teach the kids English and PC literacy. Representatives of some religious communities also help with the home: they take the children to theatres, to the circus or to the dolphinarium...

On that day at 9 a.m. we met the children at home’s ground. Very soon we were joined by our tour guide Halyna Borysivna. It appeared that the kids have been to Kyiv many times, however, they have never had an interesting and informative excursion like this!

At first we had a ride around the left bank side, and then went to see some curiosities in the city center.

Then we got acquainted with three cats near the Golden Gates: the cat called Pantiusha, the cat on the tree and one more made of forks; after that we took some photos near the Hedgehog-in-the-Fog from the well-known cartoon.у.

Then we made a visit to the crows from Reitarska Street, where a great surprise was waiting for us! Somebody had broken the cage and the crows were flying and walking around freely, one of them was not friendly at all! It cried very oddly and loudly, and even kicked Sasha’s shoe with its long beak! We called for some locals who tried to catch the birds, however, it was obvious that crows didn’t want to get back to their cage!

McDonald’s was the next stop on our route, the children had a good dinner there and then we went to planetarium whose management kindly invited us for “Starry Sky Trip” program! It was extremely interesting: we heard lots of different legends and stories about stars, comets and asterisms! All the kids enjoyed the planetarium very much since very few of them had been there before! I do hope we would have the chance to see other programs too!

We even haven’t noticed how almost six hours in the City of the Sun passed!

I want to say thank you to everyone who took part in organizing this program for children: Kornetska Halyna Borysivna, Hrabovska Natalia, Proiava Oleksandr, Sheveliov Oleksiy and the management of establishments, who have kindly invited us!
